Duke got a prime-time mention tonight on Fox’s Glee. Kurt’s father (Mike O’Malley) sits down to watch a game with Finn, they flash to the TV, where ‘DBD’ and ‘NCTH’ are playing each other. Kurt’s father states, “I hate Duke like I hate the Nazis.” Even in pretendland, people hate Dook. Nice.

Bobby Hurley Joins Coaching Staff at Wagner

Former Dook star, Bobby “Cry Baby” Hurley, has landed a new gig on his brother’s staff at Wagner as Asst. Coach. Previously a scout for the 76ers, Hurley has no prior coaching experience.

Hurley has re-surfaced recently, appearing in a commercial during the Final Four. Perhaps he is a bit hard up for money, as it was reported that he defaulted on a million-dollar loan, following in the footsteps of Christian Laettner and Brian Davis. Apparently, Dookies do not know that you have to pay the money back. No one treats you like a princess forever, boys!

So, on April 3, 2010, the Miami Herald posted this piece on why everyone hates Dook (popular subject). This apparently didn’t go over so well when this same article was published in NC. So, in order to smooth things over, the Greensboro News & Record have posted this gem to quiet the Dookies. (Like they aren’t used to everyone seeing that their coach is arrogant, hypocritical, foul mouthed, etc.)

Tonight’s game wasn’t the huge blow out that everyone thought it would be (61-59). It was actually entertaining… I’m glad Butler hung in there.

It wasn’t the prettiest win, but Dook pulled it out in the end. Congrats on the win… at least it’s one more for the ACC! (I gotta look on the bright side of things!)

Well, the nightmare has become reality. Dook’s cake walk of a bracket has helped lead them to the National Championship game on Monday. They will play Butler for the title.

On a side note, where’d they dig Bobby Hurley up from? I saw him on a commercial last night. Classy!

Newspaper Apologizes for Drawing Target on Coach K

Interesting statements from Coach K in this article… I wonder if “Poppy” lets his grandkids hear his potty mouth when he’s whining and screaming at the refs.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Star newspaper has apologized to Duke University after some of Friday’s editions included an illustration of coach Mike Krzyzewski with horns and a target drawn on his head.

The illustration on the front of the sports section accompanied a story titled “Despising Duke” that detailed how some fans strongly dislike the Blue Devils’ program.

Jim Lefko, the Star’s senior editor/sports, said the paper pulled the illustration “when we realized it didn’t meet our standards.”

“It was an illustration that should have come together earlier than it did,” Lefko said.

He estimated the drawing appeared in fewer than 30,000 copies of the edition distributed statewide. He said he apologized Friday morning to Duke officials, who said they hadn’t yet seen the illustration.

But when Krzyzewski took the podium Friday afternoon, he had, and he was not amused.

“First thing I thought, ‘That can’t be,”‘ Krzyzewski said. “How could a newspaper do that? That’s like somebody doodled. Actually, I thought I looked better. But it was kind of juvenile. Not kind of. Just juvenile. And my seven grandkids didn’t enjoy looking at it. ‘It’s not Poppy.’

“It is what it is. It’s very juvenile,” he continued. “We have great kids who go to school, who graduate. If we’re going to be despised or hated by anybody because we go to school and we want to win, you know what, that’s your problem. Then you have a problem, because we’re going to go to school and we’re going to try to win. You don’t like it? Keep drawing pictures. Just keep drawing pictures. Try to do them a little bit better than that, though.”
